Method of Recruitment
By direct recruitment on basis of aggregate marks obtained in a competitive examination conducted by the High Court, consisting of 3 stages
- Preliminary Examination
- Mains Examination
- Interview
(a) Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination shall be conducted by objective type questions paper consisting of 100 marks and syllabi for exam is mentioned below-
PART A-
- Code of Civil Procedure
- Negotiable Instrument Act
- Transfer of Property Act
- Indian Contract Act
- Specific Relief Act
- Indian Constitution Act
- Karnataka Rent Act, 1999
PART-B
- Criminal Procedure Code, 1973
- Indian Penal Code, 1860
- Indian Evidence Act, 1872
PART-C
General Knowledge- Test of reasoning and mental ability
(b) Mains Examination
Translation Paper (Maximum Marks 100)
There will be one translation paper and the candidates will be required to translate the passage in English into Kannada and Kannada into English. The passage will be from (1) Depositions (2) Judgement (3) Documents
LAW PAPER I- (Maximum Marks 100)
- The Criminal Procedure Code, 1973
- The Civil Procedure Code ,1908
- Indian Evidence Act, 1872
- Principles of pleading and constitution of India
LAW PAPER II- (Maximum Marks 100)
Framing of Issues and writing of judgement in Civil Cases
LAW PAPER III- (Maximum Marks 100)
Framing of charges and writing of judgement in criminal cases
VIVA-VOCE- (Maximum Marks 100)
The candidates general knowledge, grasp of principles of law, suitability for appointment as Civil Judge shall be tested.
(c) Computer Test (Maximum Marks 25)
The test of knowedge of computer shall carry maximum 25 marks and such marks secured by the candidate shall be considered for ascertaning the suitability and computer knowledge of the candidate and shall not be aggregated to the total marks obtained in the written examination and viva-voce.
